I Tried Endermologie - Here's How it Went!

You might be thinking, "What the heck is endermologie!?" Until yesterday, so was I! A few weeks back, I received an email from a local day spa saying they were giving free endermologie sessions. A quick Google search showed the endermologie was a cellulite treatment, and since I could afford to get rid of some, I booked the appointment.
Upon checking in, my first question to the receptionist was "Is tipping customary?" I feel like for most cosmetic services it is, but since this seemed almost like a medical procedure, I wasn't sure. The receptionist let me know that it was, so I made sure to tip 20% on the usual cost of one session.
After filling out a quick form on medical history and my current "concerns", I sat down with the technician to learn a little more. She explained that endermologie could treat not only cellulite, but also fat loss and general smoothing of the skin. We went over what I would consider to be my "problem areas" and what I was hoping to acheive. Then, it was time to start the treatment!
She handed me what can only be described as a full body fishnet stocking and told me to take off everything but my undergarments and put this wierd contraption on. No joke, I looked like an unevenly-stuffed sausage.
I laid on my back, and she turned on the machine. This thing basically looks like WALL-E and R2-D2's love child. Suddenly, my skin/fat was being sucked up into this human vacuum... it's a wierd feeling, to say the least. It's kind of like a massage, but definitely doesn't feel as good as one! Part of me found the treatment to be relaxing, but I can't be sure whether that's because I was in a spa room heated to approximately 1000 degrees and laying on a bed with soft music.
In total, the treatment lasted about 30 minutes. I'm a little sore today in the areas that were treated (tummy, butt, thighs) but that might be the ass-kicking megaformer class I did earlier in the day ;)
So, was it worth it?
I will say that my skin did feel smoother and more even after the treatment. And, while it was no swedish massage, it was kind of relaxing! But at the end of the day, I don't think I would do it again. Single sessions at this spa will run you $145-$195, depending on the length of each session. A minimum of 10 sessions are recommended to acheive real results, so even with a package deal you could be spending $1,000-$2,000 to see a big difference. PLUS, they also say you need to keep going back every so often to maintain the results!
But the biggest reason to reconsider: While endermologie is the only FDA-approved cellulite treatment, everything I've read says that the results are short-lived. Which means you'll be forking out quite a bit to maintain those results, year after year. At the end of the day, the right diet and exersize will give you exactly the same results, for way cheaper.
